Someone once told me that for something to become a habit it takes 21 attempts in a month. I think the discipline of writing a daily weblog would be a good experiment to try to see if that is indeed the case.
I also had a 5th grade teacher who always reminded us to live life with a purpose. When we were young, we would giggle and point out when a friend was slacking, to "straighten up and walk with a purpose". As an adult, it is no laughing matter but a very simple but powerful axiom.
In honor of Ms. Hunt, my 5th grade teacher, I would like to start writing with a purpose and "counting on cents". I am the secondary partner of a professional duo and sometimes feel overwhelmed by the sheet volume of DIY Finance that needs to be done. If I ever feel like I want to pay someone to manage our finances professionally, I remind myself of Greed on CNBC. Those crooks seem to have a similar pitch to what I am hearing now...
For context.....a few times, I have gone to the "free" dinners or events to learn more about finance offered by our banks, friends' financial planners or insurance agents, or just meeting these FP's socially. It just left me irritated at the end and unsure even if I paid these guys, did they really know what they were talking about. I even talked to fee-only planners and fee-based planners. BIG DIFFERENCE.
So begins the journey of this blog. As a woman, a wife, and a daughter here I am falling down the rabbit hole ....
